چکیده

A new class of PVDF-based membranes suitable for membrane distillation were prepared via electrospinning. The classical fiber morphology PVDF electrospun was changed to generate a beaded structure by tuning the solvent ratio and operating parameters during fabrication. Results showed that increasing N, N-Dimethylacetamide (DMAC) acetone used prepare solution, micron-sized beads can be created within membrane. This is mainly ascribed lower saturated vapor pressure DMAC, which slowing polymer solidification rate, resulting in fiber-to-bead morphology. An increase bead density induces an WCA (from 134° 148°), with concomitant reduction thickness. Large bead-to-fiber ratios may obtained working low concentration (17 wt%) but at expense mechanical stability. latter enhanced solution concentration. results show simultaneous deployment 17 25 wt% solutions double-needle electrospinning device enables fabrication PVDF-beaded high hydrophobicity, thickness good stability distillation. best 34% permeability maintained more stable water flux compared commercial when filtering hypersaline high-recovery direct contact Thus structured structures represent facile method improve performance MD applications.

Omniphobic Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) Membrane for Desalination of Shale Gas Produced Water by Membrane Distillation.

Microporous membranes fabricated from hydrophobic polymers such as polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) have been widely used for membrane distillation (MD). However, hydrophobic MD membranes are prone to wetting by low surface tension substances, thereby limiting their use in treating challenging industrial wastewaters, such as shale gas produced water. In this study, we present a facile and scalabl...

Preparation of Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) Hollow Fiber Hemodialysis Membranes

In this study, the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fiber hemodialysis membranes were prepared by non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS). The influences of PVDF membrane thickness and polyethylene glycol (PEG) content on membrane morphologies, pore size, mechanical and permeable performance were investigated. It was found that membrane thickness and PEG content affected both the struc...

Efficient Immobilised TiO2 in Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) Membrane for Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Blue

Immobilised titanium dioxide (TiO2) in membrane structures has recently become attractive. This is due to the elimination of the separation step after the process of photocatalytic degradation. The efficiency of the TiO2 surface area exposed to UV light as the main important parameter needs to be considered. The immobilisation of TiO2 nanoparticles in the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane...

Magnetoelectric CoFe2O4/polyvinylidene fluoride electrospun nanofibres.

Magnetoelectric 0-1 composites comprising CoFe2O4 (CFO) nanoparticles in a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymer-fibre matrix have been prepared by electrospinning. The average diameter of the electrospun composite fibres is ∼325 nm, independent of the nanoparticle content, and the amount of the crystalline polar β phase is strongly enhanced when compared to pure PVDF polymer fibres. The piezo...
